Welcome to CNCI
“That one must do some
work seriously and must be independent….”, this philosophy of Nobel Laureate and formal
inaugurator of this Institute, Prof. I.J.Curie has been the driving force of
Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute since its inception. Starting from 2nd
Jan 1950 it has served the society relentlessly on its battle against Cancer.
With time it has expanded in its stature and became one of the 26 Regional
Cancer Centres in our country.
The Institute was named after Deshbandhu
Chittaranjan Das, the Indian Freedom Fighter who donated land and property for
the cause. The first Campus of CNCI is a 210 bedded hospital having an
excellent research wing (which includes Animal House, state of art fully
digital Library etc) of its own.
Second Campus of CNCI at New Town was
inaugurated on 7th Jan 2022 by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra
Modi. It is a 460 bedded hospital having all the latest infrastructure for
Cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment and care. The new Campus has several facilities
like – Nuclear Medicine (PET), 3.0 Twin MRI, 128 Slice CT Scanner, Radionuclide
therapy, Endoscopy Suite, modern Brachytherapy Units and High end LINAC
Accelarators. It has an In-Campus Shelter Home for providing accomodation to
the patient attendants/accompanions. Institute has also started the Private OPD
for catering concerned patients.
The Institute has also become the Centre of
attraction for students as it came up with Courses like- Mch (Surgical Oncology),
MD (Radiotherapy), MD (Laboratory Medicine), PG Diploma in Medical Physics,
Post Doctoral Fellowship in Onco Anaesthesia, Diploma in Radiotherapy, Diploma
in Medical Laboratory Technology, Diploma in Critical Care Technology, Diploma
in Operation Theatre Technology etc.
It has another Campus at Chandannagar which is
popularly known as Ruplal Nandy Memorial Cancer Research Centre (RNMCRC).
RNMCRC is a palliative care centre jointly run by CNCI and RAH.
In near future, the Institute will uphold the
idea of ‘Service before Self’ and shall keep on thriving with same zeal,
passion and discipline. Legacy of transfering a patient into a survivor
will live long!
